A Mother's Day Note

A Mother's Day Note

This week, we want to take the time to appreciate all the mothers out there. While the times might not allow us to hug our mothers in person, we can at least honor them in spirit and let them know how much they mean to us.

As a company, we are often inspired by vintage sources from the past. Having said that much, we reflect on the obstacles women have overcome and marvel at the progress they have made over the past century. Glass ceilings are being broken left and right, and women around the world are charging into the workforce, fostering jobs and careers while holding down the fort at home.

Our designs are also inspired by the modern, but we also acknowledge that being a modern woman may seem to require superhuman capabilities. From the demands of colleagues or bosses at work to the demands of the little (or maybe not so little anymore) bosses at home, it’s no wonder women are overwhelmed and often underappreciated. The same holds true for mothers who choose to parent full-time (sometimes giving up fulfilling jobs or careers to do so), whose to-do lists and chauffeuring duties never end. The modern mother seems to be a superhero, and she continues to amaze us.

So working moms, stay-at-home moms, single moms, moms with adult children, grandmothers, and anyone who has taken on the responsibility of raising children, we salute you. You are the glue that binds together our past and present, the imperfect saint whose love made us who we are today. We thank you -- on Mother’s Day and every other day.

Our very own, Lise, with her mom over 30 years ago.
