How We're Celebrating Memorial Day

This coming Monday, May 25, our country will celebrate Memorial Day. It’s an important time to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. Traditionally, we spend quality time with family and friends as we honor our heroes with weekend gatherings, parades, and more. Of course, things are going to look quite different this year, so we thought we would come up with a few fun ways to celebrate safely and responsibly this Memorial Day.

Enjoy The Outdoors

fishing

Whether it’s camping, taking a nice hike, or just a walk around the neighborhood, there’s nothing like time spent outside. In many parts of the country, local parks and recreation areas are beginning to reopen while National parks are at varying levels of accessibility, so make sure to check their respective websites for more information. So long as it doesn’t rain, most parts of the U.S. should have pleasant enough weather to allow for some outdoor activities. A couple that comes to mind are fishing and playing golf. If you’re an avid fan of either, we might have a thing or two for you.

Have A BBQ

While having a large party of people to share copious amounts of grilled meat sounds great, it’s probably not the best idea right now. Instead, have a small gathering of less than 10 of your closest friends and family members for a low-key barbeque. Plenty of backyard games can be played while socially distancing such as cornhole or horseshoes. Pro tip -- make sure to get all your food and activity items bought well in advance; many grocery stores and large retailers have experienced shortages of food and outdoor items.

Watch the National Memorial Day Concert

If your focus is more on the meaning of the holiday at hand, there’s no better celebration than the National Memorial Day Concert. It takes place this Sunday, May 24 at 8:00 PM ET.  The award-winning presentation features a star-studded lineup honoring the men and women in uniform who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

If you’re celebrating an active duty member or a veteran and would like to give a timely, military-inspired gift, we’re offering an additional 10% off our already reduced prices with discount code Memorial10 and all active military or first responder receive 20% off by clicking here.

The entire Pendulux family would like to thank those who gave everything fighting for us here at home, as well as their families and friends. We hope you all have an enjoyable, and most importantly, safe holiday.
