Amelia Earhart: Aviation and Beyond
On this day 88 years ago, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly non-stop solo across America. This trip was a record for a female pilot, both in terms of distance and speed. Over the years, she would break aviation barriers in ways we could never imagine.
Five years later, she and Fred Noonan disappear as they attempt to fly around the world. Tragically, they were never found and the mystery of their death continues. Yet her legend lives on, because of what she accomplished not only for aviation, but for women across the globe.
