Remembering Apollo 11

Remembering Apollo 11

Today, July 20, 2019, marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11, the first space mission that successfully brought humans to the moon. With the declaration of Neil Armstrong's famous first words, the whole world changed. Indeed it was a giant leap for mankind, in terms of what was humanly possible. Alongside Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, Armstrong changed the course of history. Until this very day, the Apollo 11 mission is considered by many as perhaps the most incredible achievement by man.

The mission was the culmination of the Space Race, a time during the Cold War when the United States and the Soviet Union were aggressively trying to outperform each other in spaceflight capabilities. This, of course, had a huge influence on popular culture, from entertainment to fashion to dinner tables throughout the country and all over the world.

For us, as a company that puts a lot of value in history, nostalgia, and the craftsmanship of that era, we focused on that monumental moment when at the drawing board. From that, we were able to create a collection of items that pay homage to the space age. Among our most popular items, our Rocket Clock was modeled after spacecraft of the '50s, those which set the precedent for the Apollo 11. Popular now just as it was then, we moved forward with the style, making other space-related products, from the space capsule-inspired Space Bug Clock to the extraterrestrial looking Oofoo Clock.

We really enjoy history, especially being able to share it through our products. To this day, we're still astonished by what our country was able to accomplish on this day 50 years ago. We would just like to say thank you to everyone who made that day possible, including every man and woman at NASA who contributed to Apollo 11's success.
